This is a great pattern, easy to memorize and fun to do. The yarn I'm still holding judgement on. I'm going to need to wear them a couple of times first, I think, before I decide whether I'm going to buy any more. It just seems much rougher than the other sock yarn I've used, an
d it was definitely harder to knit with.Oh! This was my first heel flap sock. (Huh. I typed that first as "hell flap." Freud, anyone?) It wasn't too bad at all. I ended up with some holes at the gussets on my first sock, which I had to sew up, but I picked up a few more stitches the second time around and didn't have a problem. I also left the instep stitches of the second sock on waste yarn instead of the needles while I knit the heel. I don't know if that made a difference or not, but it was a tip in Getting Started Knitting Socks so I figured what the hell.
I don't know what I'm knitting next. The seascape stole is on the needles, of course, but I'm going to need a mindless project too. More socks? Do the stranded mittens count as mindless, I wonder?
In the meantime, I'm going to finish up what my friend calls the teenage vampire smut series. I'm on Eclipse.

i love the way that the socks came out-- the gradation worked well with the pattern.
