I'm a little out of season

but the Spring Forward socks are done.

Details:

cast on: July 12
finished: August 17
pattern: Spring Forward from Knitty.com
yarn: Jojoland Melody superwash, color MS16
needles: US 1
mods: none

This is a great pattern, easy to memorize and fun to do. The yarn I'm still holding judgement on. I'm going to need to wear them a couple of times first, I think, before I decide whether I'm going to buy any more. It just seems much rougher than the other sock yarn I've used, and it was definitely harder to knit with.

Oh! This was my first heel flap sock. (Huh. I typed that first as "hell flap." Freud, anyone?) It wasn't too bad at all. I ended up with some holes at the gussets on my first sock, which I had to sew up, but I picked up a few more stitches the second time around and didn't have a problem. I also left the instep stitches of the second sock on waste yarn instead of the needles while I knit the heel. I don't know if that made a difference or not, but it was a tip in Getting Started Knitting Socks so I figured what the hell.

I don't know what I'm knitting next. The seascape stole is on the needles, of course, but I'm going to need a mindless project too. More socks? Do the stranded mittens count as mindless, I wonder?

In the meantime, I'm going to finish up what my friend calls the teenage vampire smut series. I'm on Eclipse.

If the stranded mittens count as mindless, I'm totally mailing you my kit.
