I saw this "survey" using your iPod on another blog and couldn't resist. (There will be knitting content soon. Maybe today, in this very post. We'll see how long Squirt sleeps.)
Press Shuffle and write the song you get as an answer to each question.
1. What's my mood like right now?
Martha Wainwright--"When the Day Is Short"
Comment: Wow. My iPod knows it's the holidays. Cool.
2. How's tomorrow going to be for me?
Elliott Smith--"Punch and Judy"
Comment: I'm not sure how to take that. It's going to be an old-fashioned comedy? Suicidal? It could go either way.
3. What kind of person am I?
Tori Amos--"She's Your Cocaine"
Comment: Interesting.
4. Am I loved?
50 Foot Wave--"Pretty Ugly"
Comment: Suddenly this isn't as much fun as I thought it would be ...
5. How can I achieve my highest potential?
Sleater-Kinney--"Don't Talk Like"
Comment: Like what?! Don't leave me hanging, iPod!
6. What should I do with my life?
Blonde Redhead--"Hated Because of Great Qualities"
Comment: So ... I shouldn't flaunt these great qualities? Or I should prepare to be hated?
7. Is everything really going to be alright in the end?
PJ Harvey--"It's You"
8. What is my best quality? (I'm almost scared to do this one.)
PJ Harvey--"Sheela Na Gig"
Comment: I was right to be scared. For those of you who don't know, check out this link on the Celtic deity Sheela Na Gig.
9. How does my sex life look?
Liz Phair--"Strange Loop"
Comment: You don't know the half of it, iPod.
10. What's the meaning of life?
The Cranberries--"No Need to Argue"
Comment: I like that.
11. What do people think of me?
Julie Ruin--"Radical or Pro-Parental"
Comment: Just the Republicans I know.
12. Would I make a good catch?
The Kills--"Cat Claw"
Comment: I'm taking that as a no.
13. How crazy am I? (Once again, a little nervous. I did name the damned iPod "Sanity," after all.)
Prince--"Delirious"
Comment: Oh. My. God. Hilarious.
14. Will I have a good life in general?
Metric--"Too Little Too Late"
Comment: Pbbbblt.
15. What's going to happen to me this week?
Neko Case--"Deep Red Bells"
Comment: ??
16. Where will I be a year from now?
Regina Spektor--"On the Radio"
Comment: Yessssss!
17. What is my biggest wish?
Kristin Hersh--"Heaven"
Comment: Huh.
18. What is the love of my life doing at this very moment?
PJ Harvey--"Working for the Man"
Comment: Ha! Normally that would work, but given that he's snoring in the recliner "watching" football, I have to laugh.
19. How will I die? (Once again, I'm scared.)
Dave Matthews Band--"Say Goodbye"
Comment: I couldn't make this shit up, folks. That's what it said.
20. What will happen after I die?
The Kills--"Pull a U"
Comment: Huh.
21. How do my friends feel about me?
Antonio Vivaldi--"Summer"
Comment: Aw.
22. Where will I go on vacation?
Helium--"Skeleton"
Comment: Okay, I evidently have a lot of very dark music.
23. What am I getting for Christmas?
Dead Can Dance--"Fortune Presents Gifts Not According to the Book"
Comment: Ooh, can't wait. Should be interesting.
24. What happened to me yesterday?
PJ Harvey--"Hardly Wait"
Comment: For vacation? Bedtime? A bottle of wine? What?!
25. What would be my part in a movie?
Dead Can Dance--"As the Bell Rings, the Maypole Spins"
Comment: There's a huge need for Maypole spinners in Hollywood.
26. Who knows everything about me?
Luscious Jackson--"Naked Eye"
Comment: Ooh, that sounds very Sauron-ish.
27. Who is my idol?
Helium--"Comet #9"
28. What will I be when I grow up?
PJ Harvey--"Easy"
Comment: Once again, I could not possibly make this stuff up. Ha!
The knitting content will have to wait, I guess. Monkey needs apples with peanut butter now. Sigh.

Do I have to?
There's been lots of knitting going on around here, so much so it was almost st
ressing me out there for a minute. I spent most of last week churning out mini mittens for my swap on Ravelry. I got them out on time, though! I also had a swap package to put together and send out by the 15th, and another one to get out this week. I've got to remember to stop with the swaps. (Oops. Too late.)
Once I got the "obligations" out of the way, I started in on the gift knitting. Jamie (the sister in Philly) already took my Scrunchie scarf (Rav link), so I made her the Peekaboo mittens from my last post to go with them. Then I figured, what the hell, and made her a Foliage hat. O
ut of my Malabrigo, no less. I really, really, really, really want to keep it. I love the color, I love the pattern, and knitting it was the gift knitting trifecta--fast, fun, and easy.
I expect incredible things from you for Christmas this year, Jamie. ;)
Next up from my queue is more gift knitting: a hat, a market bag, and some fingerless mitts for a couple of college friends, and a hat for Squirt. I'll try and squeeze in Monkey's bolero, too, since I'd like her to wear it sometime this winter while it still fits.

Guilt trip
So I feel a teeny bit guilty about not posting any knitting-related pics in my last post, especially after taking a month off. ('Cause I know all three of my readers were waiting so impatiently for a new post, right?) So here are a few.

First up, the Heart Cowl.
Details:
cast on: October 27ish
finished: November 1
pattern: La-La-Love-You Cowl from the Fall 2008 issue of PopKnits
needles: US 8
yarn: Manos del Uruguay 100% Wool
mods: 99 stitches cast on instead of 111
I made this for my swap partner in the Books and More swap, round 3. Then she backed out and I got a new partner ... who lives in Texas. I don't think she'll have much need of a wool cowl, but she's getting it anyway! The pattern was fun and went pretty quickly, but there was enough going on to keep me interested. And the Manos was incredible. I'll definitely be buying some more in the future.
I'm also making Peekabo Mittens (Rav link) for my sister in Philly. The blackberry mittens crashed and burned--Squirt pulled out a needle, and I just didn't feel like trying to pick up stitches in stranded knitting--so I decided on these. They're mostly stockinette, so they go really fast. I started the first one on the plane to Vegas last week and would've finished on the plane back if there hadn't been a knot in my yarn. Ah well. It's finished now so I'll start number two today or tomorrow.

The yarn I'm using for these, by the way, is quite possibly my new favorite yarn. It's Shibui Merino Alpaca, and it's amazing. Soo soft and silky. I'd make a bodysuit out of it if I thought it wouldn't frighten the children.

No good excuse
I just haven't been blogging. I've been out of town a lot (a family trip to Bismarck, North Dakota; a hedonistic trip to Las Vegas), so we'll go with that as an excuse.
More amazingly, I've been knitting. I think I've started two more projects and finished one of them, made some progress on Monkey's bolero, started that second floozy sock, and knitted up a few more minis. Sounds impressive when I put it like that, doesn't it? Naturally I don't have any new pictures though, so to distract you from that fact, here are the kids on Halloween.
Monkey was Glinda the Good Witch from The Wizard of Oz and Squirt was a frog. He was supposed to be the Cowardly Lion, but Mommy hit the wrong shipping option when ordering and it didn't get here until November 3. Guess what he's going to be next year?
